Siendo la música, un reflejo directo de
la sociedad, creo correcto analizar un poco el entorno en el que vivían los
jóvenes de ese entonces. Por un lado, parte del mundo estaba en guerra (y una
sin un motivo aparente). México, como otros países, era un lugar donde el
gobierno dictatorial busca silenciar con balas el silencio de los lideres, de
los agentes de cambio. Donde la iglesia lucha contra el progreso en el uso del
anticonceptivo. Los jóvenes quieren rebeldía y la expresan. Todo tenía un tinte
hippie. El gobierno quería terminar con la libertad (desde el corte de pelo, el
tipo de ropa que se vestía, hasta la música que se escuchaba) y ellos estaban
dispuestos a defenderlo.
En México, habían bandas en español (como
Los Rebeldes del Ritmo, Los
Locos del Ritmo o Los Teen Tops) pero más
que proponer, imitaban y casi traducían a los grandes de EU.
